Look at Home Business Opportunities for Your Financial Freedom

June 22, 2007

Seems like everywhere you look, someone is trying to get you to sign up for the latest and greatest home business opportunity. Whether it’s multi-level marketing, affiliate marketing, eBay selling, e-commerce retail or wholesale, there are about a million different things to do and sell. Ever received an email on how to become a copywriter, creative writer, data entry, etc.? These and the other businesses sound like very interesting and lucrative ventures but how can you tell which ones will actually work?
Well, first let’s discuss what some of these businesses entail:

1. Multi-Level Marketing – this is where not only do you earn money from sales of products or services but you also earn a percentage of the money from the sales of people you get to sign up into the business. Often thought of an a “pyramid scheme” (which are illegal), the best way to tell if it’s a legitimate MLM is whether you have to continue selling once you begin recruiting. If they drop the sales objectives after you begin recruiting, it’s a pyramid scheme. MLM can be online or offline or a combination of both.
2. Affiliate marketing – in this business you develop a referral program via your website and whenever someone purchases from your affiliates by going through your website or ads, you get paid a percentage of the sales. This can be very lucrative if you are willing to put in the time and effort. Affiliate marketing works best online.
3. eBay selling – this phenomenon started as a way to get rid of some household junk and has become one of the more lucrative home business opportunities for selling just about anything. Many eBay sellers are wholesale drop shippers who never have any inventory but are the middle-man between the large distributors and the consumer. Must be done online.
4. E-commerce retail or wholesale – again acting as the middle-man between the distributor and the buyer, you set up a website which offers whatever for sale. You can choose to specialize in a particular area (clothes, babies, pets, etc.).

Here are a few hints to remember as you filter through the dizzying amount of home business opportunities available:

1. Fees – everything seems to cost money now but let’s be realistic, you should not have to pay anything to “find out how” on any home business venture. There may be fees or start-up costs associated with many multi-level marketing businesses but the information about the opportunity should be free. Even if it’s a $1.00, it’s still a rip off.
2. U.S. business representative – this is a complete scam, they only want your bank information or want you deposit fraudulent checks and send them your money. DO NOT DO THIS.
3. Don’t keep sending money – this is a sign of con. Do not throw good money after bad; if you are not making money with their enterprise, sending them more money will not help.

Just be cautious and read everything before you give anyone your money or your information.
